It
doesn't seem like that long ago that we were hitting the ice in September for
those first skates of the season and now here we are, closing the book on another minor hockey season.
This time of year is one
of reflecting on the prior season and starting to plan for the upcoming season. First
and foremost, I want to thank members of our association. I want to thank all
the players for your commitment to our association, your teams, and
yourselves. I hope that each and everyone of you had a rewarding and fun
season. To our players who laced up their skates for their final season as a
Duke and will not be returning to DMH next season, I wish you all of the best
in your future endeavours and hope you look back on your seasons as a Duke with
pride. Thank you to our numerous volunteers, coaches, trainers, managers,
score keepers, sponsors and everyone in between. Our success is a direct
reflection of the volunteers and countless hours committed to this great game!
I want to thank all the
parents for supporting your child, your team, and DMH.
Finally, I want to thank
our executive members. There is a lot of work that goes on behind the
scenes all season long in keeping things running smoothly for DMH, and your
work does not go unnoticed.
There have been many changes in the OMHA
over the last few seasons, one of the most notable being the change of playoffs
to tournament style and tiering. We are doing our best as an executive to have
our voices heard for what we feel is best for our players and small town hockey
organizations such as Douro. 2024/25 will bring another significant change with
the elimination of centre sizes as all organizations will now be considered “B”
centres with tiering solely based on season standings. Tournament entries are
still being worked out.
In closing, I want to thank you again
for a great season. Our AGM and awards ceremony will be on June 7th 2024,
and I encourage you all to attend and join us in a BBQ and celebration of the
2023-24 season.
As a board, we represent
the interest of our membership and each and every child who wears a DMH jersey!
Wishing all of our
families a great spring and summer and I look forward to seeing everyone af the
rink in September.
Sincerely,
Liam Ryan
President DMH
